What is the best outlet to find the value of baseball cards?

A friend of mine recently came across a box of older (1980’s and on) baseball and other sports/trading cards. Most are well known brands (Topps, etc.) and almost all are sealed packages.
Other than searching through ebay for each individual pack/card/set, or trusting a local memorabilia dealer, is there an efficient way to find out if these cards are worth any value? Or would it be better to open the packs and search for uncommon cards?

Try this :
VintageCardPrices.com
Hope it helps. Good luck.
yes there is a way to check for your cards value i just go on beckett.com its the #1 card value finder ever and its easy to use. how to use beckett.com i by typing brand name, player name, card number (card number is mostly on top left or right corner), then year for example
topps babe ruth 233 1992. if u do that it will bring u right threw your card your looking for.
do not open your package because when years go on they will be worth alot of money and if u open them they will be woth 10 dollers. i remeber when i opened a packeg of cards and it came with a jersey 3 patch card if i nevered opened it it would be lots of money. so dont open
if this does not wirk do the same thing on ebay or google
